CACFP Reimbursement and Cash in Lieu Rates Released 22-23

The USDA has released the Reimbursement Rates for 2022-2023.  

Rates are effective beginning July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. 

Important Note: These rates include the 12-month, temporary funding of an additional 10 cents per meal and snack provided by the Keep Kids Fed Act of 2022 (KKFA).  The KKFA also authorizes Tier II family or group day care homes to be reimbursed at Tier I rates for the time period starting July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.

Reimbursement Rate Changes for the Contiguous States:

Family Child Care Homes

  • Breakfast increased by 16 cents for Tier I with an additional 10 cents from KKFA for a total of 26 cents reimbursement through June 30, 2023.  Tier II is the same rate as Tier I due to the area eligibility waiver included in KKFA.
  • Lunch/Supper increased by 31 cents for Tier I with an additional 10 cents from KKFA for a total of 41 cents reimbursement through June 30, 2023.  Tier II is the same rate as Tier I due to the area eligibility waiver included in KKFA.
  • Snack increased by 9 cents for Tier I with an additional 10 cents from KKFA for a total of 19 cents reimbursement through June 30, 2023.  Tier II is the same rate as Tier I due to the area eligibility waiver included in KKFA.

Centers/Afterschool

  • Breakfast increased by 2 cents (paid), 14 cents (reduced), and 14 cents (free) with an additional 10 cents from the KKFA for a total increase of 12 cents (paid), 24 cents (reduced), and 24 cents (free).
  • Lunch/Supper increased by 2 cents (paid), 27 cents (reduced), and 27 cents (free) with an additional 10 cents from the KKFA for a total increase of 12 cents (paid), 37 cents (reduced), and 37 cents (free).
  • Snack increased by 0 cents (paid), 4 cents (reduced), and 8 cents (free) with an additional 10 cents from the KKFA for a total increase of 10 cents (paid), 14 cents (reduced), and 18 cents (free).

Administrative

  • Increase of $11 per month for initial 50 homes.
  • Increase of $8 per month for the next 150 homes.
  • Increase of $6 per month for the next 800 homes.
  • Increase of $6 per month for each additional home.

 

Table 1 includes the rates that you will receive for meal/snacks served and include the temporary increase of 10 cents per meal and snack authorized by the KKFA.  This table also reflects the current waiver included in KKFA which provides Tier II day care homes to be reimbursed at the Tier I rate.

2022-2023 Cash in Lieu Rates

Cash in Lieu rates increased by 4 cents per lunch and supper in the CACFP, with the overall rate of 30 cents per lunch and supper for the time period starting July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023.
