Meal Pattern Minute: A2 Milk
September 25, 2026
When new food products enter the marketplace, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) operators often wonder whether they meet meal pattern requirements. One question that comes up is whether A2 milk can be credited towards the fluid milk component in CACFP meals and snacks. Understanding which milk products are creditable is essential for maintaining compliance while offering participants nutritious options. Â
Find the answer in this Meal Pattern Minute as Isabel Ramos-Lebron, MS, RDN, LD, reveals the answer about A2 milk.Â
Transcript: The answer is Yes. Pasteurized A2 milk is creditable as fluid milk in the CACFP and meets the program’s fluid milk requirements. A2 milk is cow’s milk that contains only the A2 protein, rather than both A1 and A2 proteins found in most conventional milk. Remember, you must still follow the fat and flavoring requirements for the age groups you serve.Â
