Meal Pattern Minute: Whole Milk
June 12, 2026
For Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) operators, milk requirements can feel challenging because they vary by age and getting it right is essential for compliance and reimbursement. A common question is whether unflavored whole milk can be served broadly across age groups, or if there are important distinctions to keep in mind. Let’s take a closer look at what’s creditable and where operators need to pay attention for children ages one and up.Â
Tune in to this Meal Pattern Minute featuring Isabel Ramos-Lebron, MS, RDN, LD, where she breaks it down in a simple, practical way you can apply to your menus right away.Â
Transcript: The answer is yes. Unflavored whole milk is creditable for all children that are one year of age or older. Flavored whole milk can be served to children 6 years and older including older adults.Â
