As part of National Nutrition Month®, the USDA has announced that many of the professional and consumer resources for the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 are now available in Spanish. They invite you to check out these new resources on DietaryGuidelines.gov. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 provides advice on what to eat and drink to meet nutrient needs, promote health, and help prevent chronic disease. This edition of the Dietary Guidelines is the first to provide guidance for healthy dietary patterns by life stage, from birth through older adulthood, including women who are pregnant or lactating.

The complete list of resources now available in Spanish include:

  1. Professional Resources. USDA and HHS have developed resources for professionals to help promote healthy eating across the lifespan from birth to adulthood. These professional resources make it easy for you to put the evidence-based recommendations from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 into practice.
  2. Consumer Resources. Healthy eating is important. At the same time, we know that making changes to what you eat and drink can be a challenge and takes time. To help individuals and families improve their health, USDA and HHS provide a variety of free resources on healthy eating based on the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
  3. Figures and Infographics. Download and share figures from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 and infographics related to the purpose and development of the Dietary Guidelines.

What are the Dietary Guidelines for Americans?

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 provides advice on what to eat and drink to meet nutrient needs, promote health, and help prevent chronic disease. This edition of the Dietary Guidelines is the first to provide guidance for healthy dietary patterns by life stage, from birth through older adulthood, including women who are pregnant or lactating.

The process to develop the Dietary Guidelines consisted of four stages: 1) identify the topics and supporting scientific questions to be examined; 2) appoint a Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee to review current scientific evidence; 3) develop the new edition of the Dietary Guidelines; 4) implement the Dietary Guidelines through Federal programs.

More information about the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025 and their development, including a complete review of research, committee meetings and public comments, can be found on at USDA.gov.
